Bristol & Clifton Golf Club

Welcome to the Seniors' Section

Bristol & Clifton Men's Seniors' Section (age 55+)

The Section has over 330 members of all standards of golf from single to high figure handicaps. We warmly welcome and provide for all golfers, whether new to the game or a seasoned player.

The Seniors' Section was established in 1972 and its Committee of seven has experience of organising a wide range of events. We have a busy summer programme, playing 37 matches, within an area bounded by St Pierre, Minchinhampton, Kingsdown and Enmore golf clubs. These are well supported and an enjoyable social occasion always including an excellent meal and some inspiring repartee.

In addition there are a variety of internal competitions:

Stableford Qualifying handicap competitions, held in the middle and at the end of each month.
Summer and winter single and pairs knockout matches.
Matches against our Ladies' Section, played in March and October.
Seniors' Captain's Day organised with a match, followed by a dinner for members and wives/partners.
We host an annual Seniors' Open Day which normally on the first Wednesday in June and also a Seniors' Pairs Open in September.

The Committee provides assistance to members who wish to play in Away Open competitions played at other clubs in the South West and Wales. See the Seniors' Notice Board for details.

We are supported by staff in the Pro Shop who can organise fitness sessions or group golf lessons.

Bristol & Clifton Golf Club has a wide range of excellent practice facilities ranging from a covered driving range to academy practice area plus a practice chipping and bunker area.

Our golf course is immaculately maintained and has an integrated two tee start system, for 2 or 3/4 ball matches. The course has good drainage and so we enjoy excellent winter golf with rarely any restriction on the use of powered trolleys. We also have a fleet of 6 top of the range buggies available for hire.

The Seniors' Section at Bristol & Clifton Golf Club has, not only over forty years of experience in organising events, but is also looking forward to the future and is keen to encourage new members to participate.
